PSK Meter - My take on the KF6VSG PSK meter from SSIServer.com
The KF6VSG PSKmeter
from SSI Server is a fantastic meter kit can very quickly help you tune
your digital mode signals to achieve the lowest possible IMD or inter modulation distortion
levels. The kit is well built, pretty easy to assemble, and just
works in Windows and Linux. I do think the kit is it's a little bit on the
expensive side but it's well worth it. Anyway, this page is to document
two changes I made to my unit:
Added an externally accessible switch similar to the previously posted
mod on the SSI Server's website:
Added a power LED to know when the unit is powered on. To support
this, I split apart a jumper post and soldered each of them into the +5VDC
and GND test points. I then took an old jumper wire set, split it apart,
soldered a 1KOhm resiter to an LED and SuperGlued the LED right next to
the DB9 connector.
To do: I feel the unit needs a reverse polarity protection diode
as it seems one mistake and the voltage regulator component will smoke!
Back in November, 2009, I emailed Martin Ewing who is the author of
the Linux pskmeter code
on my Centos 5 which he added to his website. I again reached out to Martin
on 09/29/10 to see if he would consider adding BPSK63 support since the new
Windows program supports it. We'll see!
